SEASON 1 / Episode 7: The Future Of Fashion & Film

How the fashion and film industry changed overnight!

COVID stopped the traditional way of putting on fashion shows, filming movies, theatre productions and fashion shoots. As we all sit at home wondering when restrictions will lift? (The answer everyone around the world would like to know!) I start to ponder, will the creative industry ever be the same? The entertainment industry is one of the hardest-hit sectors so far. It is weird because some sections are doing well, like streaming services, but eventually, there needs to be new content, or there will be nothing to watch on Crave, Netflix, Hulu etc. Besides running out of original content (which, of course, is a scary thought!), another terrifying thought is there might not be any more kissing or love scenes in films?

There are so many areas in the entertainment industry, and we don't know what everything will look like in the next few months. The fashion industry is also feeling the pinch with magazine shoots done over zoom. Also, we see masks starting to pop up more and more worldwide as we all wear them as a proactive measure against the virus. I took a costume history course along time ago at UVIC, and we learned that fashion is shaped by what is going on in the world. So that brings the question, will masks become our new fashion accessories for the year 2020 and years to come? Are we going to see the comeback of long gloves? I have no clue what the answer is or if there even is a correct one at the moment.

My next guest on Coping 19 should have all the answers. Her name is Therés Amee, CEO of Prowess Productions Inc, and actor, model and producer. I talk to her about how the fashion and film industry is pivoting to keep these art forms alive! During a very uncertain time. I also learn about her company and the great projects she has coming up, and what she has learned about being an entrepreneur. Her thoughts on what is the future of the fashion and film industry after COVID-19. If there will be any more romance in the movies, any live audiences? Will the actors have to apply their makeup, and will fashion shows be allowed? Listen to what Therés has to say about the film and fashion industry's current situation as more than half of the world is in lock down.
